The Christmas Tag

This year I've decided to take part in the Christmas Tag as part of Blogmas where I'm posting everyday thorough December.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

I realise, from conversations with friends and seeing other bloggers' lists, that I haven't watched many Christmas movies. I need to catch up! But for now, I'd say it's Home Alone or Gremlins.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Since Pip was born it's usually in Brighton. Before that I spent it mostly wherever I was living in England but I've also spent Christmas in Japan, Palestine and India.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Somewhere hot and tropical as I'm already fed up with the grey/rainy days here. Perhaps the Caribbean, Maldives or Australia!

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning!

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Not one in particular but general happy memories from my childhood.

Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

Oooo, probably giving them these days, especially to Pip. If the gift is meaningful and special, then I love receiving too.

Favourite festive food?

I love a roast and usually have salmon or a nut roast as I don't eat meat. I usually hate fizzy drinks but love drinking Cream soda at Christmas!

Favourite Christmas scent?

Spiced orange pomander balls.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

We've made it a tradition to see the Christmas lights in London in the run up to Christmas and we sometimes go to a kids carol service at church.

What tops your tree?

A star.

Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Yes. Can't remember which year/s it was but it has snowed in the past.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I don't have one favourite but love Last Christmas (Wham), All I Want for Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey), Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (Brenda Lee) and Happy Xmas, War is Over (John Lennon).

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It's fake. I think real ones are beautiful but couldn't justify buying one and then throwing it away two weeks later. I did have a little real one a few years ago with the roots on which I then planted in the garden (it didn't survive)!

Are you a professional present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Kids aren't fussy so I'd say to them I'm a pro.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Watching Pip's levels of excitement rise each day! I like the sparkly lights and Christmas markets and waiting in anticipation for Santa's arrival! On Christmas day itself, it's a mix of relaxing, playing games, watching films, eating and going for a walk! If I didn't have a child I probably wouldn't find it too exciting at all but it all changes once you have kids!

  1. Loved hearing a bit more about how you enjoy Christmas - memories, traditions and so on.

You've spent Christmas in a few diverse places... I wonder if, and how, those differed to here in the UK.

    Thanks for tagging me!
