It's been a rainy month or two! I think December was the wettest month on record in the UK and there have been severe floods in several areas of the country. We have, however, had some lovely sunny days recently so we've been making the most of it and going on seaside walks for some fresh sea air and a play in the sand/pebbles. During this time of year there aren't many people around so we often have the whole section of beach to ourselves! The clouds in the sky were stunning this day and it's the same trip we took this Silent Sunday photo that produced an amazing silhouette. There is something unique about the sea during the winter. The sun is lower in the sky, the sea is rough, the chill is in the air, the wind can be fierce and we are wrapped up in several layers. But there is that anticipation that Spring is just around the corner and soon the beach will be filled with tourists and people taking a dip in the sea. I recently came across this quote on Alice & Amelia's Blog (NewYoungMum) on her post about Finding Summer in Winter in which she also shares some recent photos at the seaside.
This resonates with me more than ever before. Since having a little one we have been out nearly every single day since he was born, come rain or shine. I definitely prefer the warmer weather but have learnt to appreciate these beautiful quiet cold winter days for what they are. I've been taking my camera out a lot and share these photos. Toddler has taken to jumping off the seaside steps and I managed to capture him mid-flight, he's a funny boy :-)

Have you been out in Winter sun? Would love to hear about your adventures.
Loving photos. How great are the wave jumping ones!! I always love seeing your sea side photos as it reminds me of my time in Brighton! Thanks for the mention. I think the quote really has meaning to us outdoorsy types! X
ReplyDeleteWe never go to the seaside in Winter but seeing photos like yours makes me wish that on a sunny day we could just wrap up warm and drive to the coast. Beautiful photos x
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos! I've never been to the beach during wintertime, but you're making me want to!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a bit of wave jumping, I had one of those posts this week too, lively photos 😀
ReplyDeleteI love going to the beach in the winter, almost more than in the summer! There is something about the big open spaces, fresh air and smell of the sea. Lovely photos x #countrykids
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day to be on the beach! Great photos. #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely, positive post and I love your photos and that quote. I love the beach out of peak times too.
ReplyDeleteI love the beach in winter too, like you it is much quieter here in Cornwall with just the local dog walkers and surfers enjoying the sands. We will be up your way in half term and no doubt the kids will insist on a Brighton day to play on the pebble beach and go down the pier. Huge respect for you getting out most days whatever time of year, I was always the same, it is so much easier with boys to give them the freedom and space of outdoors for a hour or so each day. thank you so much for sharing your lovely photos with me on #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteGreat mid jump shot. Must be so nice to head down to the beach in all weathers. We just landlocked and there's not that many interesting places to walk apart from just fields which I find really boring #countrykids
ReplyDeleteFantastic jumping photos! We love the sea in Winter. It generally means we have the beach (mostly) to ourselves and the energy of the wind and the crashing waves is uplifting. And best of all is warming up with a hot chocolate ;-) Jenni x
ReplyDeleteI always love these photos of your little! Such a wonderful moments captured. Thank you for sharing with us at Photo Friday!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, I love to going to the beach in the winter mainly as like you say not long and all the beaches down here will be packed with tourists. I love the photos and that quote is just beautiful xx #MyFavouriteTrip
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. We've had horrible weather here so we've been stuck indoors mostly. Can't wait for the warmer (or even drier) weather to come in so that we can get out and about more. You're lucky you stay so close to such a beautiful beach :)
ReplyDeleteYour boy is so funny! I think he'll get along fine with me gal. She loves to jump too! Beautiful photos. I like the 3rd one - the open sky just and the sunlight beaming through. x
