Carrying on with #MyAugustPhoto (a photo a day throughout August) here is a shot I took earlier in the garden. As the sun was shining I got my camera out whilst toddler was napping to capture all the flowers that are currently in bloom. I took so many that it was difficult to choose which one to publish. Then when I did pick one I couldn't decide if I should post the original (below) or the cropped shot above so I've settled on showing both! I like the original because there are so many flowers in it and it would make a great enlarged print. It's quite a dreamy shot. On the other hand the cropped shot brings the wonderful detail of the flowers and buds to the viewer's attention. Which image do you prefer?
#MyAugustPhoto Linky: I'm posting a photo a day in August & have created a brand new linky for this month. If you would like to link any of your photographs just click on the link below. Looking forward to seeing them! :)

beautiful! I love the cropped one - I like the focus on the intricacies of the petals. What a beautiful sunny day too! I am going to brighton tomorrow and the weather is not looking quite so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Helena! It was lovely today, although pretty windy. It seems to be like this at the moment; one day of sunshine followed by one day of drizzle. Hope it brightens up for you! :)
DeleteWow! Great photo! What camera do you have?
ReplyDeleteThanks Tori. It's a Nikon DSLR :)
DeleteI prefer the top one.
ReplyDeleteThe detail is stunning and I love the way the veins stand out glossy against the mat petals.
I don't have much orange in my garden but that I could live with.
Do you know what the plant is ?
Sarah x
Thanks for your comment Sarah. It's amazing what flowers/plants look like when you zoom in. The orange really brings colour to the garden once most of the roses have gone. The plant is Crocosmia (just looked it up)! Polly x
DeleteI love that top photo - it's gorgeous. ANd love the idea of a photo a day. Wish I'd thought of that!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Sherry. If you have any photos you want to share please come and join in. The linky is open until the end of the month :)
DeleteI love this blog! This FB thread has reminded me of it. I lost track of some old favourites! Nice photos xx
ReplyDeleteAww thanks so much, that's very sweet of you to say :) xx
DeleteBoth are beautiful photos, but the top picture is winning for me. As I'm sure you've been able to tell from my own photos, I love detail and close ups when it comes to nature photos, so naturally I would gravitate more towards the top one.
ReplyDeleteI could just be mind blanking, but I feel like I've never seen this kind of flower before.

Thanks Jade, I really love close-ups too. The plant is Crocosmia although I had to google it to find out :)
