Last weekend I took Pip on a three hour train ride to Cambridge. It was lovely catching up with friends and visiting several places in town. I took a lot of photos as usual so thought I'd share the best here. I wrote about my love of Cambridge in an earlier post and do crave the countryside on a regular basis. I know, I know, I live by the sea and can't complain... BUT everyone can definitely benefit from that sense of peace and space you find at the countryside.
Cambridge, in particular, has such beautiful surrounding countryside and we went for a lovely walk through the meadows to Grantchester, a picturesque little village with a good pub! I love watching toddler running through fields, there is something very satisfying about it. Is that just me? I would love to do a photography shoot in a rye or lavender field somewhere, like the picture-perfect ones you see on Pinterest. Not sure they would turn out like that but worth a try!

Oh I love going to Grantchester! We love to go there on the river, but now with a baba we walk! Sounds like you had a lovely time! xx
ReplyDeleteOoo, i'm jealous you live so nearby! :) It's such a beautiful walk xx
DeleteHow lovely to enjoy a spot of river boat watching, cow spotting and the hustle and bustle of the city centre too, a tiring day for any toddler! thank you for joining me for Country Kids
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, there was plenty to see and do :)
DeleteCambridge looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteOff topic - but I love your little one's curls. Our son has serious curls but we have to keep his hair short because they are too hard to maintain!

It's lovely, have you been?
DeleteAww thanks, I love his curls, he gets them from me :) They look very neat in this photo, other times they are all over the place. He doesn't like having his hair brushed at the moment either. Aww, I want to meet you little boy xx
Cambridge looks lovely. I've only ever been there when visiting family in Addenbrookes and meeting a friend for lunch but I've always been intrigued by Cambridge - I even applied to go to uni there!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful city and a lovely place to live. Ooo, where did you end up studying :)
DeleteWe live quite close to Cambridge and it is lovely countryside around here, funny how easy it is to take it for granted in the busyness of day to day life! #countrykids
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful town, I used to live there and do miss it. It is true, life gets in the way sometimes. Thanks for commenting :)

ReplyDeleteCambridge is one of my absolute favourite places, I love it. So beautiful, and it always feels just slightly detached from modern living and the outside world to me (I think it's all the people on bikes. & the gowns. & the punts.) #brilliantblogposts
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Cambridge - so lovely to see your photos!!!! It sounds like you had a really love time.
ReplyDeleteAh so lovely to take a peek at Cambridge again. I was a student there but we don't live too far away now so often have visits there. Have never walked to Grantchester - isn't that a terrible admission! Will do that next time.

I do love getting out into the countryside too - although I'd pick the beach over fields any day! - just enough to rejuvenate me and then back to my city. Cambridge is lovely to explore too. #citytripping
ReplyDeleteYes, we love going into the countryside too, and just walking around. We also love going to the sea! It's all so different from London and definitely much fresher. Cambridge is beautiful - with the benefits of the city and countryside together, and also so beautiful. I know why you love it! Great pics here too. #citytripping
ReplyDeleteI lived for a while in Cambridge too, but never made it to Grantchester sadly. I'm lucky enough to live in the countryside so go out into the woods and fields on a daily basis. I do crave that space and greenery when we're away for a while. Good post! #citytripping
ReplyDeleteI love seeing my daughter run through the fields too...not a care in the world. It's wonderful. Looks like a fantastic day out in Cambridge...such a beautiful city. Thanks for linking to #citytripping
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Cambridge! And Brighton as well for that matter ;) Last trip we took was to the Natural History Museum - the girls loved the dinosaurs :)) #citytripping
ReplyDeleteWow we are not too far from Cambridge, I might put it on our list of places to go this year now! #MyFavouriteTrip
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely satisfying seeing your kids run around in the countryside. It usually means they are good by to sleep well later :) It looks like you picked a lovely weekend to visit Cambridge #myfavouritetrip
ReplyDeleteCambridge looks lovely, I shall have to add it to my mini break wish list! #MyFavouriteTrip
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lovely trip! Tomorrow my son and I will venture to Bristol! I hope we will have as much fun as you =)
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a countryside lover but do enjoy my more rare trips to cities when I make them. I've never been to Cambridge and think I would like it there. #citytripping
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Toddler had even more fun running about than you did by watching him. Lucky you: Cambridge is a lovely town, though I haven't had the opportunity to explore much of its countryside. I do like your river punting photo; it rivals any I've seen on Pinterest. :)
ReplyDeleteCambridge looks just beautiful, I've never been! I would love to spend some time on river barge one day. Lovely post :)
ReplyDeleteHello, I enjoyed this post on Cambridge. It is a beautiful place to tour. Lovely photos.
