1. India
I returned to India last year taking my little three-year old Pip to meet his Indian side of the family for the very first time. It was one of my best holidays ever. India is such a colourful, rich and warm country, in every sense. I wrote about our first and second weeks in Kolkata and the coastal resort of Digha in West Bengal (first photo) and the country is still number one on my travel list. I'd love to return soon and as well as visiting family in Kolkata I'd like to explore more of the country and visit the beautiful beaches in Goa or Kerala.
2. The Netherlands
I love Amsterdam and it was wonderful visiting with Pip and friends last year during tulip season. The city is wonderful for strolling around especially along the picturesque canals and parks including the amazing Vondelpark. Along with the cultural attractions and the diverse range of cafes and restaurants, there is a lot more to Amsterdam than the red-light district and it's also a wonderful city for kids. Although next time I might go child-free!
3. Italy
I've been to Italy several times pre-baby and we took Pip to Italy when he was under a year old. We spent time in Rome and Venice, both stunningly beautiful in different ways. Italy is a country I'd like to explore more of. Venice, Rome, Tuscany, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia are all on my wish list. These Puglia Villa holidays look stunning and I am suffering from a severe case of wanderlust just looking at them.
4. USA
I'm lucky to have visited the USA many times, on holidays and on work trips. One of my holidays was a road-trip with one of my best friend's in 2008. We drove from California all the way into Mexico. It's surreal to think it actually happened and it was an incredible trip. We visited LA and drove along the coastal route 101 to San Francisco, stopping off at several beaches on the way. We also visited Yosemite, Death Valley and Baja California. What a wonderful holiday it was! I'd love to repeat this trip one day.
5. Japan
I lived in Japan for a year when I was 22 (just a few years ago...ahem). I was an English Teacher and it was such an amazing experience. Japan is so unique and I do miss it. I haven't been there since and would really like to return and retrace my steps. I see a lot of posts from other travel bloggers who have visited with kids and I'm sure it would be a wonderful place to visit with Pip. I lived in Tokyo as well as near to Kyoto so it would be amazing to return to both cities, and explore the surrounding regions too.
I realise all the places I've mentioned I have already visited but hey they were all wonderful so I want to return! I'd also like to explore more of Sussex and spend most of the summer in the UK.
Have you been to any of the places I've mentioned? What's on your travel bucket list?

We've just come back from Venice which I loved and would like to go back to explore the rest of Italy too. And you your US road trip is exactly what I want to do but thinking maybe it's one for when the kids are a bit older.
ReplyDeleteI did a similar US road trip with my husband years ago, I'd love to repeat it some day with the children as it was awesome! We are just planning to wait for a few years so that the children will appreciate it more. We love Italy too and there are lots more places that we are hoping to visit. On my travel bucket list are a few of the Scandinavian countries, I've only been to Norway and there is lots more up that way to explore!
